Backup of the backup
I remember that I was laughing at the joke about doing things around to have the backup of the backup in Sar Treck episode. Several days ago, I accidently deleted all photo records for our site. I was rewriting a condition in the query string for doing a select, well, that was what's I've thought, but then I forgot to remove the delete in the beginning of the string which I made a delete query previously. The second right after I executed the query, and saw the unexpected fetched rows told in status bar, I knew I made a huge mistake. That was so scary moment. Like I've just waken up and found I lost four years' memories. I knew I didn't have any backup, and I was ready to accept the consequences. Thanks for baby just having the backup months ago. I'll loose few weeks' datas, but then I guess I'll never forget this experience. Though... I knew this will happen, I thought to be extra careful about writing queries in order to avoid things like this happen. Well, guess people didn't come up with the word "Backup" for no reason. However, there are things can not be backed up and don't have backup either. It's true. I suppose, deep down in my mind I think those photo records are just a bunch of digits, the real treasures are what I have and see with my eyes. Oh, right, they are in my brain, and stored in my cortex.

Firebug
Uff, hit the rock on the road of writing ajax because of unfamiliar with the javascript's syntax. I tried to use the property "high" to get the last index of array instead of "length", and later, wrote "length(myarray)" instead of "myarray.length" . Before I figured out that I was using the wrong syntax, I thought I had flaw in my looping logic. It is very hard to debug in ajax environment, either server-side code or javascript becomes my suspect easily. Although....I found somebody recommends the Firebug. I've finished my ajax app, but I'll give it a try next time. However, the Firebug seems very cool in my first glance, and it also got many good reviews. The big roach on the top left of the Firebug's page specially makes me laugh. If a bug looks that cute, I'll feel sorry to terminate it.

Something else strikes me. I remember at school time, people argued that the asian education system discourages students to find solutions on his own by emphasizing memorizing existing solutions and formula while western education encourages students to develop individual mine and seeks for his own way of solutions for the problems. If I've strictly remembered all javascript syntax, I would probably be able to save considerable time and focus on constructing the logic. However, I can't guarantee my memories to that knowledge will never go away, but I'm sure once I know how to swim, I can always swim. The time can tell me how long I'll need to obtain that knowledge but the time can't tell me I'll be never afraid of water and to swim. One thing I do know is that I'll enjoy constructing the logic but not how many syntax I memorize.

laugh three times
A strange question popped in my head. Suppose a person can not talk, and he wants to express "laughing at B person three times" by writing on the paper, what is the most understandable and affective way to do it?
a. Write "I laugh at you three times." and show it to B person.
b. Write "laugh" separately on three pieces of papers, and show them to B person.
c. Write "Laughing" on one piece of paper. And show it to B person. Afterward, tear that paper into three pieces and blow them to the B person one by one.

Personally, I choose the way, C. It sounds fun for expressing it and surely make B person get the impression of how and what kind of laughter is given.

It is like thinking about the algorithm logic for a program. There are always have many ways to do it, some are longer, some are shorter, some others are tricky while some are useless. Take the way B above I mentioned yet, it sounds logical yet true, however, If I make it into something like this-->
Write "Ha!" on three pieces of paper, and throw them to the B person.
Oh, it is also fun.

Numbers
Numbers, graphics, sun, color, blind, invisible...
Words are flying around in my head. They pop up one after another when I'm just thinking about graphic programming. I think I start to like graphic programming. It is fabulous to see a bunch of numbers create various colors, shapes, etc..
Oh, right! About those words. After seeing how numbers create graphics, I think of the sun because the light makes us see colors as graphics existed in a form of numbers in computer. If there has no light, I can't see a thing. The question ball continues rolling. It would simply be a illusion that I'm not blind only because the earth has the sun light(light?). In the dark, I can't see, neither those invisible things in daylight. Am I blind to those invisible things? We've known some natural beings have the way to become invisible by blend their body color into environment's color. Hoh! this world is amazing.

Interminable function

This topic started all because of me saying that I'll want to open a restaurant with my own recipes after I feel I've done enough programs, paintings or music for my own satisfactions. When we talked about the logic of this society, I was playing the role of finding its flaws. However, the more I was suspicious about, the more advantages I found. Everything is done by self-choices and self-decisions. The duty is not done for others but to ourselves. What we will be asked for is what we can contribute to the society rather than how much money we can get in return. A person likes to write stories will do writing. He won't earn any money by showing others his stories, on the other hand, he will also get all he requires in daily life for free. Because all things he get for free also come from some other people who like or decide to make those things. It is hard to imagine how it will work, but when I think what if everything I have now is gotten for free when all I do just making programs, then, even the value of being a programmer won't make me feel all right to have those things. And now, I'll have to run for the dead line to catch the money, and very confused about is there really some lord of money who turns us into greedy mortals.

Boring
For a moment, I thought Hosbi came onto the top of my screen because he was interested in sleeping up there. Later, I understood that the truth might be he was bored to death up there, and so could do nothing but starting to sleep.

Unlike coding in Delphi, in Asp, I have to jump from pages to pages, and that kind of actions distract me many times. When I find myself becoming getting interested in something easily, I also noticed how fast and easily a tiny small matter would let my attentions slip away. The moment I switched from script editor to web browser to look at the result or go to ftp application, my thoughts on that project get distracted. The image of my Turkish studing book might pop into my head just because I saw some Turkish file names. I may also think of my old room in Taipei home because of seeing the color code I've just typed yet in file. I may even think of the rain outside because I've just set some style of text to be underlined(rain falls on the ground -> ground is flat -> a horizontal -> the line under the text).

If Hosbi could experience what things have gone through my mind, he probably won't be just sleeping there. Oh, yeah, he'd run away because of the rain.
